This is why we chose to support Sungai Watch, a leading environmental organization whose work in river cleanup, waste interception, and sustainable impact inspires us profoundly.

Many know Sungai Watch for their powerful cleanups and their mission to remove plastic waste from rivers and waterways across Indonesia. But behind these actions lies a crucial space: their headquarters in Bali. As they describe it :

“At Sungai Watch, most people know us through images of trash barriers, cleanups, and the mountains of plastic our teams intercept every day. What is less visible is the headquarters that quietly holds all of this together. Our Bali HQ is where we coordinate cleanups across islands, respond to floods, manage data, plan national strategy, host community programs, and meet partners from around the world; it is the place where field experience becomes planning, and planning becomes action.”

For us, this collaboration reflects what sustainable furniture and responsible luxury truly mean, design that supports purpose, people, and the environment. It also demonstrates how brands can contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s environmental future, beyond traditional CSR initiatives. This is why we donated three Modena sofas to support their shared areas. As a luxury furniture brand, we believe that thoughtful design can elevate not only interiors but also the people working within them. Sungai Watch also shared the environmental impact equivalent of our contribution :

“At Sungai Watch, every IDR 15,000 funds the removal of 1 kilogram of waste through our circular processing system. Grandome’s contribution is equivalent to 5,284 kilograms of waste removed. To put it differently, for every 1 sofa they donated, 17 sofas’ worth of waste will be removed; and for 3 sofas, that impact becomes the equivalent of removing 53 sofas from rivers, beaches, and illegal landfills.”

For Grandome, this reinforces our belief that a brand selling high-end furniture can and should play a role in supporting Indonesia’s environmental landscape. We are committed to contributing to sustainable development, supporting clean river initiatives, and helping build spaces that allow environmental teams to work, rest, and collaborate more effectively.
